In the past few weeks, 15 people have been arrested in Lebanon, accused of spying for Israel. Two of the suspects fled across the heavily fortified border into Israel to escape capture. Espionage carries the death penalty in the country that maintains a constant state of war with its neighbour. Al Jazeera’s Todd Baer reports from Beirut.
Lebanese police have confiscated equipment which they say was used by citizens accused of spying for Israel. A transmitter hidden inside an ice bucket and a table with a hidden compartment – high-tech gadgets which bear the fingerprints of a first-world spy service. The Lebanse say they have no doubt it is the work of Israeli Mossad. Al Jazeera’s Clayton Swisher reports.
